Feldenkrais Class

9th September 2019 @ 14:00 - 15:00

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 14:00 on Monday, repeating until 21st October 2019

ABOUT THE CLASS:

Feldenkrais is cutting-edge, awareness based movement system. It is very successful in helping people who experience chronic pain; to reduce anxiety and better ground people in their physical selves; and it improves overall strength, awareness and flexibility. The movements often seem subtle, but they are very profound, and re-educate the nervous system to learn new movement patterns. It is aimed at a very wide variety of participants, including those with neurological conditions, and is very accessible. Students can explore the work at their own pace. Moshe Feldenkrais devised the method in the middle of the 20th century, and neuroscience is now catching up and beginning to understand why it is so powerful.

SUITABLE FOR:
  • A wide variety of people: from office workers to musicians, from octagenerians to acrobats
  • Also works well for those with neurological conditions. Participants take the class at their own pace.
BENEFITS INCLUDE:
  • reduces chronic pain in everyday life

TESTIMONIAL(S):

“Feldenkrais is one of those great things in life that feels completely simple yet you’d never figure it out yourself – a system of small, effortless movements that both feel good right away and gently teach you better physical alignment long term. It’s like a highly practical guide to achieving more by doing less. I wish I’d found it years ago. Ed is as intelligent, good-humoured and sensitive a teacher as you’d hope for for this subtle discipline. After the first of his classes I attended – mostly consisting of minute shoulder movements – I felt grounded, present, free of tension and mentally clear and my breathing was freed up. At the risk of gushing, it was sort of miraculous. One class doesn’t mean you’re fixed forever, but each one feels like a renewal and gradually, without conscious effort, you get better and better.”
