Iyengar Yoga

21st September 2022 @ 13:00 - 14:00

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 13:00 on Wednesday, repeating until 26th October 2022

About the class:

Exploring the fundamentals of Iyengar Yoga; from standing poses to forward bends, backbends to restorative asanas, we will learn to practise with the awareness, control and meditative absorption that is unique to the Iyengar method.

As well as exploring asana (postures), we will rest and renew with gentle breath work, and there will be a chance to explore the basic principles of yoga philosophy (from the Bhagavad Gita and Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras).

About Iyengar Yoga:

Iyengar yoga emphasises quality of movement and students are encouraged to work steadily with awareness; cultivating sensitivity and confidence over time.  Props are used as a guide for self-learning and to bring stability and depth to students’ experience.

Testimonials:

“I have been studying yoga with Charlie for over three years now…Charlie gets me to challenge myself, to be disciplined and focussed in my practice.  I love her approach; she is firm but with a light touch. She intersperses detailed instructions, benefits & analysis of asanas with snippets of Indian philosophy.  I always come off the mat with a big smile on my face.” – Lucy

“I’ve always enjoyed yoga, but never had a teacher which made me feel the practice was essential until I met Charlie. I adore classes with her, which are interesting and fun, and about so much more than just the poses…Charlie’s a stickler for correct form – but on a personalised, individual basis – and takes time to learn each student’s unique limitations. Since we have been working together, my body feels better, as does my mind.” Nicole

“I have been learning yoga with Charlie for 18 months, having never set foot in a yoga studio and sceptically trying it as a last-ditch attempt to overcome a string of recurring running injuries. It has been completely transformational both for my body and my mind and I owe Charlie a huge debt of gratitude…she is patient, supportive and will push you just the right amount to progress your abilities. But most importantly, I have always felt very safe with Charlie… I am now injury-free and back doing some of my best running in years. I would now be completely lost without my weekly yoga class!” – Simon
